La Republica

2011-2018

As the photo editor for one of Costa Rica's longest-standing newspaper, my role encompassed responsibilities that extended beyond mere technical editing. It was a position that demanded a deep commitment not only to the core principles of journalism but also to the rich historical standards upheld by the publication.

Navigating the intricate interplay between aesthetics and journalism became the hallmark of my style, although this fusion was not something that came easily or immediately. The art of combining captivating visuals with a journalistic approach required a nuanced understanding that was acquired through time, experience, and a dedication to honing my craft.

In my capacity as a photo editor, the selection and curation of images held profound importance. Each photograph chosen needed to seamlessly align with the newspaper's overarching editorial guidelines and ethos. This meant going beyond the superficial and diving into the heart of the narrative with just one image per article.
